Design and craftsmanship

Michele De Lucchi was born in 1951 in Ferrara and graduated in architecture in Florence. During the period of radical and experimental architecture he was a prominent figure in movements such as Cavart, Alchymia, and Memphis. He worked for one of the greatest industrial realities of the time, the Olivetti. De Lucchi has designed furniture for the most famous Italian and European companies such as Artemide, Olivetti, alias, Unifor, Hermès, Alessi. He has created architectural projects in Italy and abroad, including residential, industrial and cultural buildings and corporate headquarters. Professional work has always been accompanied by personal research on the themes of project, design, technology and craftsmanship. In 1990 he created private production, a small company in whose field he designed products that are made using crafts techniques and trades. From 2004 sculpts wooden houses with the chainsaw to look for the essentiality of the architectural form.
