Novello Finotti

A sculptor with a great personality

Novello Finotti was born in Verona in 1939. He attended the Accademia Cignaroli. He began exhibiting in 1958 with a purchase award at the exhibition of Sacred Art in Assisi and has since exhibited throughout the world, receiving numerous accolades. He received several commissions, including the complete intervention of the façade of the Basilica Padovana of S. Giustina, comprising the three portals in bronze, 18 portraits of virtual patrons inserted in the back of the central door, and the four symbols of Evangelists in marble and placed in the niches of the façade. In 2001 he performed the gilded bronze decoration for the altar of Blessed John XXIII, for the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome. In 2002 he created a large figure in Carrara white marble, representing S. Maria Soledad, located in an external niche of the Basilica of S. Pietro in the Vatican. Finotti lives and works in Sommacampagna (VR) and Pietrasanta (LU).
